Obituary For Mary Juanita Via Rumley

Mary "Juanita" Via Rumley, 92, of Via’s View Dr., Martinsville, VA, transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. Born in Virginia on December 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late James N. “Nick” Lowe and the late Ione Gilmore Lowe.

In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Lee Via; six sisters, Margaret (Roman) Phillips, Mamie (Houston) Matthews, Lelia Lee “Blackie” (George) Penn, Cora (Eugene) Spencer, Missouri (William) Walker and Evelyn (Sam) Wray; and three brothers, James Lowe, Jack Lowe, and Nathaniel (Lessie) Lowe.

Juanita was a life member of Christian View Missionary Baptist Church, Horsepasture, VA, where she served on the Usher Board, the Choir, Sunday School, and was a Missionary. She graduated from the Henry County Training School.

Juanita leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Robert Lee Rumley of the home; two sons, General (Retired) Dennis L. (Linda) Via of McLean, VA, and F.B.I. Special Agent (Retired) William “Tyrone” (Renee) Via of Fredericksburg, VA; four grandsons, Evan T. (Kendra) Via of Alexandria, VA, Brian D.L. Via of Austin, TX, Nicholas H. Via of Fredericksburg, VA, and Bradley A. Via of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Christian View Missionary Baptist Church, 360 Arrowhead Circle, Spencer, VA, between the hours of 1 p.m. until 1:45. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Christian View Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required.
