The Life and Legacy of Ellen “Elena” Clark

Mrs. Ellen Clark was born March 12, 1929 in Bocas del Toro, Panama. She was the second of three children born to the late Albert Roy and Ursulina Walters. On the 25th day of November in the year of 2021, God opened the gates of Heaven. Well known as “Elena” to the people she loved. Elena was educated in Panama City, Panama school system. Having an articulate and vivacious personality, she took advantage of every opportunity of self-improvement, especially in being the “Hostess with the mostest”. Her love of entertaining enabled her to encourage and uplift her many friends and family. Elena moved to United States in 1962, and for many years she was employed in the retail and food industry where she later retired. She had two loves in her life, Joseph “Charlie” Scott and later in holy matrimony to the late Roy Clark who was the “apple of her eyes.” Elena loved people and never met a stranger. She always said her years living in Brooklyn, NY were so special because it made her feel as though she was back home in Panama. Elena was such a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She took everyone in. She loved being around family/friends and family gatherings. Elena loved shopping; those were truly quality times spent with her. She was a Fashion DIVA! Elena leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughters, Angelica DeSilva & Son-in-law (Martin DeSilva) in Neptune, New Jersey; Debora Pugh & Son-in-law (Cliff Pugh, Sr.) in Atlanta, Georgia and Colleen Edwards who she raised as her own; her seven Grandchildren: Charlotte DeSilva Davis, Shanelle DeSilva, Porshia McKoy, Xavier DeSilva, Iziah Clark, Camille Nixon and August Clark; 14 Great Grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. “As Elena always said, God is Love.”
