Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Roderick Baptiste, officiating. Visitation is Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Freddie James Long was born December 7, 1955 in Seale, Alabama to the late Thomas and Ella Long. He was educated at Chavala High School and he accepted Christ at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Seale, Alabama where he was a devoted member of the choir.
He was employed at the Russell County Board of Transportation where he served dutifully for many years as Transportation Supervisor before retiring in 2013. He also served several years as Fire Chief at the Seale Volunteer Fire Department as well as an EMR (Emergency Medical Responder).
Freddie is preceded in death by his mother Ella B. Sanks Long, his father Thomas “Bud” Long, his brother Thomas “Buddy” Long, his daughter Frezxertrevelyn “Lynn” Long, his sister-in-law Nancy Long and his nephew Thomas “Dipp” Long. To cherish his memory, Freddie leaves one son, Brandon Long of Ruskin, Florida; one daughter, Takeshia Long of Ruskin, Florida; one granddaughter, Braelynn Long of Ruskin, Florida; an ex-wife, Mary Mitchell of Riverview, Florida; six brothers, Jimmie Lee Long (Cora), Willie Long , Sammie Long (Marie), Roy Long (Evelyn) all of Seale, Alabama, Edward Long (Francine) and Scottie Long (Cassandra) both of Phenix City, Alabama; two sisters, Gladys Murrell of Seale, Alabama and Erman Bennett (Arthur) of Phenix City, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
