Obituary For Equilla Lee Henderson

Equilla Henderson, 69, of Rosemary Lane, Danville, VA, departed this life on Friday, December 3, 2021, at SOVAH Health-Danville. Born in McDowell County, WVA on December 5, 1951, the daughter of the late James Richard Norman and the late Ruby Lee Barbour Norman.

In addition to her parents, Equilla was preceded in death by one sister, Westover Wimbush.

Equilla was a member of the Galilean House of Worship, where she was a member of the Choir, was an Usher, and a member of the Ladies of Virtue. She was a 1972 graduate of George Washington Carver High School, and later received her Associates Degree in General Studies from Patrick Henry Community College. She retired from Sara Lee after many years of service.

Equilla leaves to cherish her memory one son, Marvin (Pamela) Norman of Ridgeway, VA; one daughter, Tara Preston of Danville, VA; one step-granddaughter, Abria Johnson of Martinsville, VA; one step-great-grandson, Dakota Moore of Martinsville, VA; one sister, Fara Mae Hairston of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Dr. James Norman of Petersburg, VA; special cousin, Laverne Ingram of Martinsville, VA; her loving pet/companion, Fancy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 12 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, with Bishop Michael Penn, Eulogist. Burial will be private. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. All other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 433 Rosemary Lane, Danville, VA.
