PALMETTO - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, 132 Guidry Rd., Palmetto, LA for Mr. Charlie “Red” Wheeler, Jr., 80, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at his residence in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be in the church cemetery.Pastor Darrell Sampson will be officiating the funeral service. Mr. Wheeler’s memories are being cherished by: three sons, Charlie V. Wheeler of Opelousas, LA, Gavielle Wheeler of Alexandria, LA and Remeek Wheeler (Erica) of Minot, ND; six daughters, Paris Stelly (Eugene) of Baker, LA, Neena Wheeler and Twanna Wheeler, both of Opelousas, LA, Charlene Jenkins (Patrick) of Zachary, LA, Evette Wheeler of Atlanta, GA and Sheren Sanders (Samuel) of Charlottesville, VA; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.He is preceded in death by: his wife, Judy Mae Collins Wheeler, his parents, Charley Wheeler, Sr. and Mary Guillot Wheeler; three brothers, John, Joseph and Alton Wheeler; and four sisters, Rose Simmons, Doreatha Neal, Violet King and Thelma Lathan.Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at New Pilgrim Baptist Church.** Please be advised we will adhere to the safety measures and precautions provided by the state of Louisiana due to COVID-19.
