Obituary For Tommie Donnell Davis, Sr.

Funeral services for the late Mr. Tommie D. Davis, Sr. of 700 Ashton Place, Apt. #721, Ashburn, Georgia, who departed this life on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Pruitt Healthcare in Ashburn, Georgia, will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Mr. Tommie Donnell “Chip” Davis, Sr. was born on January 28, 1956 in Turner County, Ashburn, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Lee and Gladys Tharpe Davis. He was the fourth of five children.

“Chip”, as most people knew him, was educated in the Turner County Public School System. He graduated from Turner County High School in 1973. After graduating from high school, Tommie started working at Gold Kist Peanut Company in Ashburn, Georgia. He worked for Gold Kist for 35 years before he retired.

At the age of 8, Tommie joined the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an active member. He was ordained a Deacon and he also served on the Usher Board as President, and regularly attended Sunday School when his health permitted.

In 2001, Tommie was united in Holy Matrimony to Mamie Johnson, and they became a family.

On Thursday, December 9, 2021, Chip was called home to be with the angels. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Lee and Gladys Davis, two sisters, Cherrie Davis and Samolyn Davis, and a niece, Greta Davis.

Tommie leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mamie Davis; a son, Tommie Donnell (Nicole) Davis, Jr. of Tifton, Georgia; two daughters, Latasha (Andrae) White of Tampa, Florida, Cathy (Maurice) Johnson of Fitzgerald, Georgia; four stepchildren, Samantha Johnson, Anthony (Erica) Johnson, Martha (Dexter) Watson, all of Tifton, Georgia, Michelle Boston of Cordele, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Washington of Sycamore, Georgia, Catherine Wiseman of Tifton, Georgia, Rose (Rondell) Sutton of Ashburn, Georgia; a brother, Larry (Bell) Sutton of Pearson, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; a very special niece, Repunzel Davis; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
