Guest Book

To the family and friends, I wish to share with you the joy of more than 80 years of a relationship that has reached its final termination. Memories that lift the corners of my mouth are many, but only two of these memories will I share with you. The first and most profound memory began in the first grade at Union Academy on 624 H St. NE. Washington, DC. Marion Stafford was our first-grade teacher. One day she called, "Lawrence Washington and Bailey Freeman stop your fooling around and bring your reading book to the front of the class. Now, I want you to read to the class the beginning pages of your book "Fun with Dick and Jane". With tears in our eyes, we began to stumble through the words, See Jane.... Run, See Dick .... run ......with long pauses we stumbled in tandem reading to the class as they laughed at our inarticulate fumbling through the first page. The second and last meeting was the joyous hours and days that Bailey and I spent in remodeling 2900 ft.² basement of a beautiful home. Bailey was a skilled electrician who brought light and enjoy to each person with whom he came in contact. Each day we terminated our relationship only hoping that we would see one another again to bring joy, peace and comfort. Goodbye my friend. " .... The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another. Genesis 31:49 KJV. With love, COL RET. Lawrence C. Washington, Maxine Washington and Family
