Obituary For Sister Helen Bell Tyre

Ms. Helen Bell Tyre, a beautiful woman of God was called from earth to glory on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in Panama City, She was 83 years of age.A native of Panama City, she attended the public schools of Bay County and graduated from Rosenwald High School in 1958. Helen was of the Methodist faith and a member of Greater Bethel AME Church. She served as an usher, choir member, Trustee and a member of the culinary ministry.Because Helen had a desire to do hair, she enrolled in Lady Ethel Beauty School and became a licensed Cosmetologist. She also worked for Vetter Early Childhood Education center. She was a long-time member of the Bay County Floridian Club and served as the National Welfare Chairperson for eight years.Helen leaves a legacy of love with one son, Vincent (Belinda) Tyre of Wimauma, Florida; one granddaughter, Nefertiti Tyre of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one grandson, Samuel Douglas of Panama City, Florida; two brothers, Louis (Patricia) White of Rochester, New York and Rev. Lawrence (Irma) Gantt of Lynn Haven, Florida; one aunt, Mrs. Lucy Porter of San Pedro, California; a special niece whom she helped raise, Tamara Graham of New Port, Virginia; two special friends, Laura Johnson and Juliette Kennedy; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.A public viewing will be held Wednesday December 15th from 2-5p.m. at Battle Mortuary.A homegoing celebration will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 1:00p.m. at Greater Bethel AME Church with Rev. Alice Clark, Minister Barbara White, Rev. Brenda Henderson, Rev. Lawrence Gantt and Rev. Daryl Hooks officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Battle Mortuary of Panama City.
