In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hairston; one son, William Ayers; and 15 siblings.
Annie was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Missionary, Sunday School Teacher, and sang with the Choir. She retired from the Henry County School Systems as a Cafeteria worker after many years of service.
Annie leaves to cherish her loving memory, four daughters, Sylvia D. Millner, Linda Hairston, and Sophia C. Kelly all of Martinsville, VA, and Vanessa Hairston Neal of Woodbridge, VA; three sons, Jessie J. Hairston of Fayetteville, NC, Clyde "Tony" (Amanda) Hairston of Danville, VA, and Keith H. (Natalie) Hairston of Fredericksburg, VA; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Apostle A. Marquis Hairston, Presiding, and Reverend William Churchill Randolph, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. All other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 112 Massey St., Martinsville, VA.
