Obituary For Freddie Lee Gibson, Sr.

Brother Freddie Lee Gibson, Sr. was born on March 13, 1941, in Moorehaven, FL to the late J.C. Gibson, Sr. and Mother Bernice Major Gibson. He grew up in a very loving and caring home. His family later moved to Fort Pierce, FL. Freddie attend school in St. Lucie County where he graduated from Lincoln Park Academy in 1961. He enlisted into the United States Army. He went on to continue his post-secondary education at Webster College and later Indian River State College where He studied Business Administration.

At an early age, Freddie joined New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he was a regular attendee under the leadership of Reverend R. H. Pittman, Pastor. Brother Freddie became an ordained Deacon at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the training of his father, Deacon J.C. Gibson. Brother Gibson became employed at Grumman Aircraft in Stuart, FL. He worked on various aircrafts until his retirement from the corporation.

Freddie married the love of his life, Mary Brown. Freddie was also a very talented artist. He enjoyed painting works of art. Freddie was a naturally gifted artist. He loved artistry and began painting different landscapes and sceneries. Brother Freddie also enjoyed attending and participating in acts of service at JC Mission of Hope, an organization founded in honor of his father, to feed the hungry, visit the sick and provide clothes and other goods to individuals in need. Brother Freddie and his wife were both active members of the mission and avidly supported its cause in this community and abroad.

Brother Freddie was an active member and supporter of (MBG) Mother Bernice Gibson Scholarship. This scholarlship was created to provide financial support to youth and adults desiring to attend college. With Brother Freddie’s help, the scholarship has assisted numerous individuals achieve their dream of furthering their education and becoming college graduates.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Deacon JC Gibson Sr.; Mother, Mother Bernice Gibson; brothers, James C. Gibson Jr., Willie Eugene Gibson, Alonza Lee Gibson, Donald Nelson Gibson; neices, Pamela Gibson, Laverne Gibson; nephew, Donald Eugene Gibson; uncle, Sammy Major; aunts, Inez Bell and Bernett Mechanic.

Left to cherish memories are his wife, Mary Gibson of Fort Pierce, Florida; sons, Freddie (Monica) Gibson Ir. of Fort Pierce, Fl., Primus Gibson of Virginia Beach, Va., Terry Allen Gibson of San Diego, California, Daron Huston of Miami, FL; Curtis Huston, Lake Wales, FL; daughters, Sheila Lynn Gibson Drake of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Candie Stevens of Fort Pierce, Fl; grandchildren, Ashley Gibson (Israel) Hayes, Damon of Okeechobee, FL., Primus Justin Gibson of Atlanta, Ga., Shayna of Vero Beach, FL., Tiffany Drake of Virginia Beach, Va, Antonio Terry Gibson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Chauncey Huston of Fort Pierce, Fl, Gene Moore of Vero Beach, FL, Armeshia Hutchinson of Tampa, Florida, Shakel and Moniqua Bain of Nassau, Bahamas; great grands, Acural, Avery, Israel Jr., Damon Jr., Shayna, Madison, Antonio, Genesis, Antonio Jr., Dalvin, Ayden, Ariah, Maliyah, Shania, Destiny, Makayla, Kelson and Darius; sisters, Dr. Shirley A. Gibson of Fort Pierce, Fl, Dr. Dianne Gibson of Fort Pierce, FL and Bernice Gibson Tynes of Vero Beach, FL; aunt, Doris Major of Waterford, Conn; brothers-in-law, Rev. Vernon Tynes Sr. of Vero Beach, FL, Seabron Brown, Tallahassee, FL, Curtis Brown, Austin,Texas; sister-in-law, Vera Phillip of Fort Pierce, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowful friends who will miss him dearly.

Public visitation for Freddie Lee Gibson, Sr. will take place on Friday, December 24, 2021 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, FL. Funeral services will convene on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Immanuel Full Gospel Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will immediately follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Although many venues have opened and the restrictions of COVID-19 have been relaxed, we at Stone Brothers Funeral Homes are still enforcing the guidelines set forth by the CDC and FDOH to protect our families and our staff. In loving memory, Mr.Gibson was truly a blessing. I always admired and respected his caring nature, creative talents and love for mom. They blessed my life on many occasions.
