Obituary For Mitchell Thompson

Mr. Mitchell Thompson, 63, departed this life on December 20, 2021. He was the son of the late Grover Cleven and Maggie Bell Moore Thompson. He was born October 9, 1958, in Lancaster County South Carolina. Mitchell joined Second Calvary Baptist Church at a young age.

Mitchell was educated in the Lancaster County School System. He was a 1976 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School. He was a graduate of Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC and the University of Phoenix in Atlanta, GA. Mitchell was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.

Mitchell enlisted in the United States Army and retired as a Master Sargent in 2018.

Mitchell was employed with Spalding County Georgia Corrections.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Lynn Stodghill Thompson of McDonough, GA; four daughters, Leslie M. Simpson of Columbia, SC, Shareeka B. Thompson of Lancaster, SC, Tameka M. Thompson Smith (Germaine) of Monroe, NC, and Crystal N. Chandler of Jonesboro, GA; one son, Mitchell A. Thompson (Phagan); seven grandchildren, Jazzmine, Braylynn, Kennedi, Blake, Dallas, Zuri, and Journee; two brothers, Smitty β€œPete” Thompson, and Bobby Thompson.

Graveside Service will be 12:00 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. James Coleman, Jr.

Viewing will be 12:00 p.m.– 3: 00 p.m. Saturday, December 25, 2021, at the funeral home.
