Obituary For Dreola Madlock Guyton

Mrs. Dreola Madlock Guyton passed on December 16, 2021. Funeral Service for Guyton will take in New Orleans Louisiana. Viewing for Mrs. Guyton will be held at Smith, Dennis-Smith Funeral Home from 1pm to 4pm Sunday December 26, 2021. All participants must wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

The Life and Legacy of Dreola "Dre" Madlock Guyton On December 16, 2021, Dre was called to rest after a fruitful journey that enriched the lives of family, friends and many others who were fortunate enough to have met her. She was born in Marigold, Mississippi on July 28, 1951 to the late Mosetta Madlock Harris and James Harris. (Along with Mosetta Harris, she was raised by the late Robert Collins, Sr., in New Orleans, Louisiana). She accepted Christ into her heart at an early age. She was the granddaughter of the late Minnie Mae & Mose Madlock. She attended McDonough #30 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and went on to attend George Washington Carver Senior High School. She earned her Bachelors Degree from Southern Univerisity of New Orleans in 1982. Displaying the work ethic that she demonstrated over the course of her entire life, she went on to graduate with honors from Southern University of Baton Rouge Law School in 1986. She was a practicing attorney in the State Of Louisiana for over two decades. At the age of 19, she embarked on a journey with Tyrone Linzey Guyton, Sr., that would go on to producing four children: Tyrone Linzey Guyton, Jr. (Valerie Butler Guyton), Marc Rashand Guyton, Patrice Thomas (James K. Thomas, Sr.), Jeanne- Michele "Mimi" Jinnel Theon Guyton, (Kevin Timothy Jackson, Jr.). She was the proud grandmother of: Shea Marc Guyton, Shawn Marcus Guyton, Keston Taron Mimmitt, III, Madison R. Guyton, Treme Jaxon Thomas, Hendrix Christopher Guyton, and two great-granddaughters Genesis Jiann Dreola Guyton and Evangeline Marie Antoinette Guyton. She was the daughter-in-law to the late Lubertha Johnson and Eugene Guyton, Sr. She leaves behind to honor her memory six siblings: Jinnel "Ruth" Thomas, Master Sergeant of Elk Grove, California (Ron Thomas, Sr. deceased), Robert Collins, Jr. of Walls Mississippi, Gloria "Jean" Madlock of Kansas City, Missouri, Andrew Collins, (Marcia Breaux Collins) of Acworth, Georgia, Darlene C. Jones, (Harvey Jones, Sr.) of Dallas, Texas, Dorothy Simpson (Sam Simpson) of Kansas City Missouri and her cousin who she loved as a brother Tommie Rivers of Indianapolis, Indiana. She also was the beloved sister-in-law to Sylvia Guyton-Ardis (Michael Ardis) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Malik Rahim (Vera-Lynn) of New Orleans, Lousiana, the late Eugene Guyton, Jr, and Sylvester Guyton. She was the godmother to Monique Kincade and Rosalee Honey Madlock. She was a lifelong friend to Cynthia Register and Cynthia Jenkins and was beloved by a host of family and friends. Dre was dedicated member of Saint Stephen's Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
