Mr. Charles Edward Louis Gemes, 67 of 509 E. Circle Drive Shelby, NC passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. He was born on July 26, 1954 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Otis and Bertha Bess Gemes.

He was employed with Spake’s Concrete for many years and worked part time at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. He loved being around his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Harris and Shirley Young.

He is survived by two daughters, Shamaya Petty (Tyrome) and Tracey Robbs (Frank) both of Shelby; a son, Roscoe Petty of Shelby; sisters, Diane Gemes and Bertie Ross both of Shelby; Ericka Whisnant who was like a daughter; a special nephew, Joey Gemes and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mr. Gemes will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM.
