Obituary For Willie Ann Jones

A celebration of life for Mrs. Willie Ann Jones of Alpine, 90, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Jones will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Everyone will be required to wear a mask and attendance is limited to family. Visitation will be 1-7 pm. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the funeral home.

On Saturday in September 12, 1931, Mrs. Willie Ann Swain Jones was born to the union of Alphonso Swain and Beulah Terrell Swain in Alpine, Alabama. At an early age, Mrs. Jones was a member of New Maryland Missionary Baptist Church. After marrying her husband, Mr. Casey Jones on May 18, 1946, Willie Ann moved her membership to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She completed her education at Nottingham School. Willie Ann worked as a secretary at Hanna J. Mallory School and Beaunit Rayon Factory, cooked at Alpine Bay and served as a nursing assistant for Dr. Jerry Gurley. On the evening of Wednesday, December 29, 2021, the Lord called her to her Heavenly home. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Casey Jones; a grandchild, Sa’id Riddick; parents, Alphonso and Beulah Swain; a sister, Eloise; and three brothers, Alphonso Swain, Jr., John Swain and Josephus Swain. Mrs. Jones leaves to cherish her memory: seven children, Donald (Shirley) Jones of Moody, Alabama, Joyce Jones of Sandusky, Ohio, Jennell (Winston) Lovelace of Anderson, Indiana, Veronica Burk of Alpine, Alabama, Edith (James) Fomby of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Hisham Rashad of Newport News, Virginia and Cody Jones of Alpine, Alabama; eleven grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; four sisters Juliette Betty Brown of Detroit, Michigan, Lena Swain of St. Louis, Missouri, Eppie Harvey of Sandusky, Ohio and Bertha Washington of Toledo, Ohio; caregiver for over 10 years, Cynthia Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
