Obituary For Carlton Scott Rainey

Carlton Scott Rainey departed this life on Tuesday; December 21, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. Carlton was born on July 27, 1966 to the late Diana M. Rainey and the late Thomas J. Partlow. He was raised by the late Nancy Elizabeth Rainey.

Carlton graduated from Hunter Huss High School in Gastonia, NC. He was a member of New High Springs Baptist Church. After graduation, he joined the United States Army where he served in the Field Artillery in Oklahoma from 1985 until 1988. After serving his country, he was employed at Firestone Textile Mills in Gastonia where he retired from in 2016. Carlton or Cotton, as he was affectionately called, loved fishing, coffee and chilling with his nephews and friends. He loved to cook and travel. He didn’t bother anyone, he stayed to himself. Most of all, he loved his wife, that was his world. Every time you see Carlton, you see Net, his wife. They were like two peas in a pod. His kids and grandkids were his world. They loved their PawPaw and we will continue to love him.

Carlton leaves to cherish his fond memories to his loving wife of twenty-eight years: Antionette Rainey, daughters: Latoya Farr and Quintera Farr both of Gastonia, NC; his grandkids: DuQuasha Cark, Felton Clark, Darius Farr, Aliyah “Bubble Gum,” Alana “Lala,” Alysha “Slim,”; step-mother: Loretta G. Partlow from Raleigh, NC; sisters: Debbie Gunn of Washington, DC, Charlotte Pettis (Maurice) of Kings Mountain, NC, Melissa Partlow of Staten Island, NY, Rashaunda Partlow of Queens, NY, and Tanya Thompson (Tyrone) of Florida; brothers: Darius Rainey of Charlotte, NC and Brian Partlow (Peaches) ); sisters in laws: Ola Mae Sanders of Gastonia, NC, Rosaline Knox, Bertha Mae Williams (Willard), Betrice Knox and Associate Minister Marjorie Knox all of Kingston, NY; brothers-in-law: James Farr (Natalie) of Kings Mountain, NC and James Knox (Diane) of California and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
