Obituary For Yolanda Jones

Yolanda Yvette Jones was born in High Point, NC, on November 4, 1962, to the late Mary Marie Smith Jones and James Edward Jones. Following an earthly life of 59 years, this pilgrimage for our beloved ended at the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC on Friday afternoon, December 31, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Patrick Jones.

Yolanda attended High Point Public Schools and worked for Styrex Industries for several years. Yolanda (or “Landa” as her nieces would call her) loved her family, especially her sisters and nieces. You could say she was spoiled because she was the baby of all the girls. Yolanda loved to joke and laugh with people she knew or met. Landa had a love for sweets, particularly Jolly Ranchers, Tootsie Roll Pops, and AirHeads. She also loved to go shopping with her nieces. Her favorite stores were Walmart and Burkes.

Yolanda joined Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church as a child and was an active member well into her adult life. In recent years, and because of her failing health, she had not been as active as she once had. While the physical presence of our beloved will no longer be with us, we give thanks that she now enjoys a fuller, richer life free of sickness and pain, and is now at eternal rest.

She leaves to cherish loving and fond memories: three sisters, Linda (Charles) Rice of High Point, NC, Doris Jones (James Ballard) of Stone Mountain, GA, and Jamey Jones of High Point, NC; five nieces, Tilia Rice, Tuesday Sims, Fatema Rice, Kalisha Jones and Otila (Greg) Oliver; one nephew; James Jones, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
