Rose McDonald Hardy, daughter of the late Jake McDonald, Sr. and Josephine Starks McDonald was born February 9, 1935 in Summerton, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by eight siblings: Mattie Lawson, Willie McDonald, Ruth Bennett, LJ McDonald, Jake McDonald, Jr., Plenty Dingle, Richard Dingle and Doretha Brown.

“Rose”, as she was affectionately called, received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.

At an early age, she became a member of Briggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Summerton, South Carolina. Upon moving to Miami, Florida, she became a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

“Rose” was a sweet and humble spirit who loved her family deeply. If there was anything she could do for you, she would do without hesitation. She was very generous and always kept a smile on her face, a smile that would light up the room.

In Miami, she met and married the late Rudolph Hardy. This union was blessed with four children, two preceded her in death, Mary “Mag” McDonald and Vanessa “Ness” Thomas. After living a full and fruitful life, on Monday, January 3, 2022, Rose McDonald Hardy, answered her Master’s call.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Michael Hardy, Beverly Hills, FL and Anthony Hardy of the home; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Joe (Evelyn) McDonald, Miami, FL; one sister, Mableen McDonald, Manning, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Briggs Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Summerton, SC.

The family received friends at her residence, 1087 Ashton Trace Drive, Manning, SC.
