Obituary For Cynthia Mason

Mrs. Cynthia Cheryl Ann Friday Mason, daughter of the late Abel and Tula Mae Friday, was born February 27, 1949 in Gaston County, NC and departed this life on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 peacefully at her home.

In her early years, Cynthia attended Humphrey's Chapel AME Zion Church where she started her kids' church life off as well. Cynthia has been a long time member of Christ Community Baptist Church where she was a member of the Pastor's Aide, the Food Ministry, and a member of the Hymn Choir where she faithfully served until her health began to fail. Cynthia was very much loved by her extended family, church family and friends.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Julie Friday Floyd and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Mason is survived by her husband, Perry Mason, 31 years of marriage both from Gastonia, NC and her children, Troy Friday (Angela), Marsha Friday Oates (Curtis), Charisma Friday, and Monica Friday Fairfax (Keith) all of Gastonia, NC. Cynthia also had three stepchildren, Curtis Mason, Philadelphia, PA, Anthony Mason, Denton, TX, and Alesia Moore, Baltimore MD. Cynthia is survived by in-laws, Rose McCrorey, Philadelphia, PA (sister-in-law) and Bruce Bagley, Connecticut (brother-in-law). Cynthia was survived by 13 grandchildren. There was always a special bond between her and grandchild Tulisha "Tootie" Friday whom Cynthia helped raise during her childhood. Cynthia also had 15 great grandchildren respectively. There are a host of cousins and friends that also survived her after she departed.

We will be remised not to recognize Tondra Boyce and Ronda Glenn, our bonus sisters both of Gastonia, NC. A special shout-out goes to her lifelong friend of 64 years, Demetrius Garvin and Ray Bagley as well as all of the Highland High School Classmates of 1966.

Viewing at the funeral home on Friday; January 7, 2022 from 2 until 6

Funeral on Saturday; January 8, 2021 at Christ Community Baptist Church, Gastonia at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation is one hour before the service at the church

Interment: Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia

Masks are required at all services and funeral will be live on funeral home facebook page.
