Obituary For James Clinton “Skip” Walker

James Clinton Walker was born on May 28, 1964 in Greensboro, NC to the late Dalia Mae Womack-Walker and the late James Frederick Walker. He peacefully transitioned on December 28, 2021.

Skip, as everyone called him, was a special and genuinely kind man. He was a protector, a provider, and a joy to be around to everyone he knew. Educated in the Guilford County school system, he graduated from Northeast Guilford High School and would begin a career path in the carpentry industry. Skip worked in this field primarily as a painter until his health declined.

An artist by natural gifting, Skip could draw anything that came to mind or that was put in front of him. His roses were infamous and his drawings are in the homes of many of those he loved. Skip enjoyed life and wanted those around him to do so as well. During his life’s journey, there was never a time or a distance that kept him too still as he always had his bike. As a youth he began fixing bikes and made sure everyone in the neighborhood that wanted a ‘ride’ was able to have a helicopter bike. Aside from his passion of working on bikes, Skip loved Bruce Lee movies. He was always willing to show anyone his kung fu moves once he mastered how to use nunchucks.

Skip was a loving father, a devoted partner, an only brother, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin and friend. His heart was big and his soul shined always. Not much could keep him down. He embraced the last 7 months of his life with such courage and an immense amount of strength. He fought a very good fight that allowed him to transition in peace and he will forever be with us.

Skip is preceded in death by: his father James Fredrick Walker, his mother Dalia Mae Womack-Walker, and his niece Marisa Renee Council-Townsend.

His memory will forever be cherished in the lives of: an only son Aundra (Duck) Bell (Monique); life partner Sharon Wheeler; four loving sisters: Cassandra (Prissy) Walker, Venetia (Tammy) Walker, Frederica (Rhodie) Walker, Alecia (Lisa) Walker; grandchildren: Andre Bell, Andrew Bell and Mandre Miller; a special niece: Keianah (Kee Kee) Walker; nephews: Cecil (Skeeter) Council Jr., Harviere (Anton) Tarpley, Nazman McCain, Harviere Tarpley Jr.; step children: Lisa Means, Marvin Watlington, Kelly Curtis (Julian); special cousins: Donna Bowden, Tony Purcell, Scott Womack, Deon Doggett; family elders: Aunt Deloris Foxx (Jimmy), Aunt Patricia Purcell, Uncle Thomas Doggett, Uncle Martin Doggett (Betty); a loving mentor/ uncle: Sam Purcell; a host of other relatives and friends.

You were a remarkable being and your spirit will carry through all of us,

Soar high Skip.

A service honoring his life will be held on Saturday January 8, 2022. Visitation begins at 12:00 pm and the service will follow at 12:30 pm at St. Paul Apostle Church- Jesus Christ located at 4800 Holders Rd. Greensboro, NC 27405.
