Graveside service for Mr. Douglas Simmons of Talladega formerly of Chicago, 88, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham. There will not be a visitation held.

On October 19, 1933, Mr. Douglas J. Simmons was the youngest child born to the union of James Simmons and Lillie B. Easley Simmons in Galveston, Texas.

Mr. Simmons was a graduate of Westside Senior High School in Talladega, Alabama. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably. Douglas made his home in Chicago, Illinois and was employed in the engineering department at Hines VA Hospital.

On Friday, January 7, 2022, Douglas traded time for eternity. He was preceded in passing by his parents, James and Lillie Simmons; and nine siblings, Earl M. McAlpine, James Simmons, Jr., Constance L. Taylor, Oreal E. Ballard, Georgia T. Reese, Nazarine Taylor, Jessie E. F. Simmons, Ermner Arceneaux and Elinor Marie Jones.

Mr. Simmons leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
