Craig Allen Hester departed this life on January 6, 2022. He was born on March 5, 1958 in Gadsden, AL to the late Robert and Betty Jean Hester. Craig was the fourth born of seven (3 boys, 4 girls). At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined First Baptist Church of East Gadsden. Craig was a graduate of Gadsden High School Class of 1976, where he played football. He worked at Coca-Cola as a route driver from 1976-1983. He later relocated to Detroit, Michigan where he was a Welder at Wellington Steel Industries. He spent his final days in Wayne, Michigan. Craig loved his children, grandchildren, and family dearly. Anyone who knew him knew that he was a diehard Alabama fan. (ROLL-TIDE-ROLL)!

Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Betty Jean Hester, aunt Juanita Reeves, brother Robert Lewis Hester, niece Jazmin Hester and nephew Tony Easley, Jr.

Left to cherish his loving memories are his two sons: Craig Ransaw (Diamielle) of Louisiana and Eizele Spears of Alabama; twelve grandchildren: MaKai’la, Craig Jr., Kinsleigh and Kalyn of Louisiana, Eizele Jr., Noah, Neveah, Ty’Ashia, Ty’Shree, Ty’Leah, Malik and Jaylon of Alabama; four sisters: Eleanor Mickle (Dan) of Redford, Michigan; Carol Freeman (Paul) of Romulus, Michigan; Leslie Kay Hester and Nellie Jo Watkins (Jay Jr.) of Gadsden, AL; brother William Hester (Andrea) of Gadsden, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Public Viewing on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at West Gadsden Funeral Home, 2118 Forrest Ave., Gadsden, AL, 35904.

Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2022 for 12:00 p.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 1115 Tuscaloosa Ave., Gadsden, AL 35901.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lincoln Hill Memorial Garden, Gadsden, AL.

Due to COVID-19, all attendees are REQUIRED to wear face masks.
