Milton you shared your love with my family. As Marilyn's Godfather you introduced her to music and encouraged her love of the violin! Because of that encouragement she joined Petersburg Symphony at 15 and has continued with it. You were always such a kind hearted loving person who generously gave support and will be forever missed. I shall forever miss your music, song but I cherish forever the memories. I will always remember how excited Marilyn would get when you would play the first chords of Brenda's solo because it was her God parents. RIP I shall miss you my friend Sandra Frye-Davis

My sincere condolences to all of Milton's closest loved ones he cherished as family and friends. I pray a continued wave of love, peace, and comfort in knowing Milton is at rest in our Savior's care during this difficult time. It was a privilege to play the keys beside this musical wonder. To brainstorm musical arrangements that became spirit filled worship experiences. To share life experiences with him that displayed his pure heart for God and people. There just aren't enough words to express how large this loss feels, but trusting God in all things helps me understand this moment. Until we meet again! Mrs. Tarnisha Bruce

It is with much regret to hear of the passing of my friend, Milton. Milton and I met at First Baptist Church of South Richmond some years ago. Milton and I would have a blast laughing at his buddy, my brother, who sung in the men's choir by calling him Mr. President. When I was in school at STVU, and was in town from MD, I would often run into Milton at school or at Send-A-Chef. One day Milton walked into Send-A-Chef and I was eating lunch, and studying with a puzzle look on my face. He came to my table to assure I was okay. I told Milton that I was working on my DMIN at Wesley Theological Seminary and I was working on an assignment for my Music class. Milton picked up my book and Syllabus and immediately directed me as to where I needed to be. Milton was such a great guy and would help anyone anywhere needed. Family, my prayers are with you at this time and always. Milton will be truly missed by so many. My friend, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. Rest on my friend, rest on until we meet again.

Milton touched every single life he came in contact with. I had the pleasure of Singing with the Sanctuary Choir at First Baptist Church South Richmond under his leadership for over 20 yrs. Additionally he was with The James Cleveland GMWA of America ( Richmond Chapter) in which I was a member of for over 15 years. In most recent years we both relocated to Newport News Va. and I occasionally visited the Queen Street Baptist Church where he was Minister of Music there. He had such an impact on everyone he met. His very strict music principals and techniques made us more excellent and will forever be etched in our Hearts and Minds. Take your well deserved Rest in Eternity Maestro!!! #Untilwemeetagain Pamela A Burford, Newport News VA

Let your light do shine and you did! You were always such a kind hearted nice person and will be forever missed. I joined First Baptist many years ago and remember hearing the music and saying who is that on the piano? Well, it was the Maestro, Milton Marriott. Saddened to learn of your passing, my family along with FARAJI Jordan extend our condolences to the family. Please know that there is comfort in the Lord. Vanessa Jordan

In arriving in Richmond VA to start my own life journey, over 20 years ago, I was introduced to Milton, in the GMWA business circle. He was definitely God sent and a tremendous blessing to the community at large. First Baptist church became a Mini-Convention home for many years and Milton played a big role in that ministry. His spirit always seemed to remain the same, in each meeting, no matter how far time in between. Rest in Peace my friend. Hymn 47 forever.

Whenever we needed you you didn't hesitate but came running to help. We love your entire family an offer our condolences . Please remember we are here for you with prayers or to just talk if that be your need. We will never forget that smiling face & Jamaican voice . May GOD keep you forever in the safety of his arms.

My deepest & sincerest condolences to the entire Marriott family. I too am deeply saddened by the death of my colleague in Music Ministry and my classmate that I met many years ago, when he arrived on the campus of VUU. Milton "The Maestro" Marriott. There were many times that we met to go over music he wanted me to accompany for the cantatas, & concerts he was preparing for, at 1st Baptist, and when I needed him to play, he would always say yes. We didn't talk often, but when we did, it was about life. I will miss Milton's effortless but passionate performances on the organ. Milton gave his best self while serving as the Minister of Music at both churches. He is now serving as Heaven's Maestro & Choral Director. May God continue to wrap His Loving Arms around all of you, during this time of separation. Rest In Love & Peace Milton. 🌹🌹

Mr. Marriott was a gem. He was such a loving father, that he spoke of his children positively or affectionately in 90% of the conversations that we had.You all meant so much to him. Yes, without a doubt he was an excellent musician, but where so many turn their backs on responsibility to their children he seemed to run, heart-full, arms wide toward his. I respected that, as an observer. God bless him, forever in Jesus' arms. L. Wesley

The Davis family wish to express our deepest sympathy and unwavering support. Wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow. May God bless and keep you. Derwood, Linda, Denzel and Samantha .

May the joy and strength of the Lord encamp you during this dark hours. Milton was, by far, one of my my favorite musical artists. His love for life is a testament to he was and the lives that were blessed to experience him. Dr. Michael K. Ross

I would often stand in awe of the gift God bestowed upon Milton Marriott. Mr. Marriott generously and beautifully shared his gift and we are all better and just a bit closer to the Word of God. Milton will be truly missed by me, although we had known each other for just a few short years, it seems as if we had known each other for a much long time. We always greet each other with a big smile, there is a certain connection in seeing someone from your home, so he would call me Homie, because I am from Jamaica, and I would call him Bro. I was a member of one of the choirs that he directed at First Baptist Church of Hampton, and Some time at choir rehearsal, he would speak in the Jamaican dialect, and tells me to translate it to the choir and we would all get a good laugh out of that, then it was time to settle down and be serious, as he brought out the very best in us. He was truly a gifted musician, who enjoyed his gift, and used it to the glory of God. God's blessings to his family, here and those in Jamaica, may He (God) strengthen you and bring you peace during this your time of grief. Rev. Delrose Reynolds-Porter

Words cannot express the void that I feel in my heart for the loss of the maestro. I have so many fond memories. I loved how passionate he was about his music. He was one of a kind, a legend. Now he is in heaven with his father may he rest in peace. I pray that the family will find comfort and peace by leaning on God in the days to come knowing that time will heal the pain and the Maestro will always be with us in our hearts. His nurse... Mr. Marriott was truly one of God's servants who gave nothing but his best for the Master! He always encouraged everyone that he encountered to be the best they could be. When we sang in the choirs that he directed, we always felt like he did his best to prepare us to praise the Master with our best. We are grateful for the time that we had with him.
