Obituary For Engineer Rahwa Asgedom Bahta

On Monday January 18, 2022, Engineer Rahwa Yehdego Bahta, a passionate wife and wonderful mother, passed away peacefully at the age of 32 in Greensboro, NC, USA.

Eng. Rahwa was born on June 18, 1989, to Ato Yehdego Bahta and Woizero Tsige Asheber in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Her academic excellence started at an early age while attending Frehiwot and John F. Kennedy elementary schools. After graduating from Black Lion High School, she attended Africa Beza College where she earned an associate degree in Sales and Management. Subsequently, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from University of Gothenburg (Sweden) and master’s degree in Computer Science from Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina, U.S.A.

Engineer Rahwa was a gifted and accomplished engineer with a bright future ahead of her. She started her career at Sigma Technology Group, a global technology consulting firm, where she was instrumental in delivering cutting-edge designs and developments. Later, she joined Alton/XDIN, Inc., an engineering firm, where she took on leadership roles in various groundbreaking technology projects.

In her latest role, Rahwa worked at Volvo Trucks as Senior Project Manager in the Electrical Engineering Division. She was very well revered by her peers for her remarkable tenacity and exceptional work ethics. As a homage to her dedication and perseverance, she earned numerous accolades and multiple fast track promotions throughout her professional career.

Eng. Rahwa touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity and was dearly loved by her peers. She cherished her family and lived an amazing life to the fullest. She was a witty, kindhearted, passionate, and caring mother that always brightened the room with her dazzling smile.

Engineer Rahwa is survived by the love of her life, Ato Yonas Tsegaye; her 8-month-old daughter, Blain Yonas; her parents, Ato Yehdego Bahta and Woizero Tsige Asheber; her four brothers, Medhane Yihdego Bahta, Habtom Yihdego Bahta, Kibrom Yihdego Bahta, and Isreal Teru; her aunts, Abeba Desta and Senait Hailu; and cousins Tariku Getachew and Martha Getachew.

Our beautiful daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend will be truly missed as she was genuinely loved by everyone who knew and adored her. Her beautiful smile and legacy will live on as we cherish her memory forever.

Funeral service will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Westminster Cemetery, 3601 Whitehurst Road, Greensboro, NC.
