She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a dedicated choir member and diligently on the Dining Committee. Mary loved to attend church and fellowshipping with her church family. Mary received her formal education at Springrdge and Long Creek High School.
On September 5, 1967, she united in holy matrimony to Reuven W. Fleming Sr., this union was blessed with five children. In 1975, Mary begin her career in food service with Central Mississippi Incorporated, where she was employed for 40 years. In 2015, she became employed with Community Development Institute Headstart (Mississippi Action of Progress) where she currently served as food service manager. She was very passionate about her job and enjoyed cooking.
She departed this life on January 13, 2022, at Baptist Medical Center in Desoto, Mississippi. Her parents, John and Henrietta Roby; one sister, Ethelrine Roby; one brother, John Roby Jr.; and one brother-in-law, O.V. Winter-Fleming preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted husband, Reuben W. Fleming Sr. of Sallis, Mississippi: two daughters, Gwendolyn (Carlos) Turner of Goodman, Mississippi and Ida (Willie, Jr.) Nash of Sallis, Mississippi; three sons, Reuben (LaTrenna) Fleming of Kosciusko, Mississippi, Bishop John (Abby) Fleming of Ackerman, Mississippi, and Ar'Tarrius (LaToya) Fleming, Sr. of Starkville, Mississippi; eighteen grandchildren, Kayla Landfair, Kennedy Landfair, Kenneth Landfair, Bernice Fleming, Jaquetta Hawkins, Tia Patterson, Jayson Fleming, Reuben Kaiden Fleming, Jordan Fleming, Bishop Fleming, Willie Nash, III, and Jaiden Nash; nine great grandchildren, Ar'Tarrius Fleming, Jr., Kamariya Young, Kalyn Fleming, Brooklyn Parks, Kenny Barron, III, Kameron Landfair, Kyle Landfair, and Keleven Mack; five sisters, Alberta Martin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lillie (Lawrence) Ellis of Columbus, Mississippi, Patricia (Carlos) Bentley of Goodman, Mississippi, Perry L. (Mary) Roby of Jackson, Mississippi and Louise Hogsett of Durant, Mississippi and Marie (Amos) Coffee of Sallis, Mississippi; six brothers, Billy A. (Brenda) Roby of Jackson, Mississippi, George D. (Helen) Roby of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Percy L. (Ruth) Roby of Rockford, Illinois, J.W. Roby of Goodman, Mississippi, Perry L. (Mary) Roby of Jackson, Mississippi and Larry D. Roby of Jackson, Mississippi. Others remaining to carry her memories are: a special friend, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
