Obituary For Charlie Reese Hubbard

Charlie Hubbard, 89, of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. He was born on November 3, 1932. Charlie was the son of the late Lincoln Hubbard and Stella Arnold Hubbard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte T. Hubbard, siblings Juanita New, Grover Hubbard, William Hubbard, James Hubbard, Emory Hubbard and Geneva H. Taylor. Survivors include his daughter Gale (Eddie) Boswell of Lexington, Tommy Langley and Marie Evans of Lexington, one brother, Herman Hubbard, three grandchildren Kenny (Beth) Boswell, Adam (Deidre) Boswell, and Jennifer (Wesley) Whitlock. Seven great-grandchildren, Princess Refuerzo, Mason Armour, Hunter Boswell, Maddie Armour, JD Armour, Remington Boswell and Charlotte Whitlock. Four very special friends, Jan Bailey, Tillie Ptak, Roger & Carla Patton. Mr. Hubbard was a retired truck driver for Ryder Truck Lines and a retired chicken farmer. For many years, he was the Fire Chief for Maxeys Volunteer Fire Department and was also on the Oglethorpe County Board of Commissioners. Charlie served as Trustee at Crawford Pentecostal Church for over 50 years and was chosen as an honorary board member in 2021. He was dedicated to his church and served faithfully, loving, and supporting Bishop Donald Wineinger and Pastor Blake Smith. Mr. Hubbard and his late wife, Charlotte, were foster parents for over twelve years. They cared for over one hundred children during that time. Charlie was a wonderful father to his only child, Gale Boswell, she was his pride and joy. He dearly loved his son-in-law, Eddie, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Compassus Hospice for their loving care.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 23 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Crawford Pentecostal Church 804 Athens Rd., Crawford, GA ., with a funeral service on Monday, January 24 at 12:00 p.m., also at the church.

Interment will follow at the Center United Methodist Church cemetery. Masks are requested. Flowers are accepted, in lieu of flowers and at Charlie’s request, donations may be made to Crawford Pentecostal Church Youth Dept. P.O. Box 239 Crawford, GA.

Barrett Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel has been entrusted with final arrangements.
