The Lord spoke to James Lewis on January 19, 2022, and said, “Come unto me my child and receive your rewards.” James Lewis was the sixth child born on April 26, 1946, to the late Henry Lewis and the late Sweetie Jones Lewis of Roberta, Georgia. He accepted Christ at an early age when he joined New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. James received his education in the Turner County Public School System, and graduated from Eureka High School in the year of 1964. He then continued his studies at Albany Technical College where he received his certification in Carpentry & Brick Masonry. James Lewis served his country with valor and honor in the Vietnam War with the U.S Army in 1968. James’ personality will always be rooted in our memories. He was an outgoing, caring, outspoken, loving, and understanding person. He loved his family, friends, dogs, and fishing. James was preceded in death by his mother, Sweetie Lewis, and father, Henry Lewis, and a son, Todd Lewis. Precious memories of James will be cherished by his children, Cedric Lewis, Sr. (Pamela) of Albany, GA, Kem Collins, Sr. (Delleese) of Valdosta, GA, Xaiver Lewis (Lakisha) of Richmond, VA, Jamie Harris of Hampton, GA; sisters, Roberta Smith (Bill), Mildred Kelly (Julius) of Detroit, MI, Mary Ector (Vernon) of Warner Robins, GA; a grandchild, Cedric Lewis, Jr. of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Courtney Collins, Markus Collins, Kem Collins, Jr., Lakembria Collins, K’meelah Collins, of Valdosta, GA, Christian and Miniya Morris, of Richmond, VA; a great grandchild, Ashton Bernard Lewis of Albany, GA; his brothers, Robert Lewis (Virginia) of Chula, GA, Rev. Jerry Lewis (Diane) of Ashburn, GA, Obie Lewis, Sr., (Johnnie Mae) of Lake Hamilton, FL, Henry Lewis, Jr. (Adessa Cooke) of Raleigh, NC, Freddie Lewis of Haines City, FL, Roy Jackson (Diana) of Montgomery, AL; and host of nieces, nephews, and friends who were all family to him.
