Mrs. Modestine Byrd Hunter, 83, of 242 Varner Rd., Woodruff, SC entered into eternal rest on January 17, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Louella Byrd (Seawright) Spurgeon and Bravell L. Jones.

Modestine was preceded in death by: her husband, Bobby Ray Hunter; and her two granddaughters.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her daughters, Gloria Young of Woodruff, SC and Barbara Wimphrie of Central, SC; her three sons, Rev. Johnny (Sharon) Byrd of Orangeburg, SC, Timothy (Phyllis) Hunter of Simpsonville, SC and Gerald (Glynda) Hunter of Greenwood, SC; her seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hunter will lie in state on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.

Funeral Services for Modestine Byrd Hunter will be held outdoors at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Enoree, SC. Burial will follow at Flat Ruff Baptist Church Cemetery, Gray Court, SC.

Covid-19 guidelines will be enforced by wearing a mask and social distancing.
