Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST, Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Cottonton, AL with Rev. P.D. Johnson, officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 31, 2022 from 1 - 5 p.m. EST.
Deacon James I. Miles was born March 19, 1954 in Russell County, AL to the late Mr. C. D. Smith and the late Mrs. Mildred James.
At an early age James joined the Bethlehem Crossroad Baptist Church in Ft. Mitchell, AL. James was a deacon at Bethlehem Crossroad Baptist Church and a devoted musician for Bethlehem Crossroad Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church until his health started to fail. he was employed at Southern Phenix Textile Mill for over 30 years. He was also employed with the City of Phenix City for about 20 years. Deacon James Miles was a soft spoken person and very dedicated to his musical profession.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, Arthur James, Sr. and one brother, Arthur James, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one sister, Sharon Pearson of Phenix City, AL; two brothers, Charles (Linda) James, Sr. of Smiths Station, AL and Lorenzo James of Ft. Mitchell, AL; nine aunts, Shirley Miles, Etta (Elisha) Foster both of Phenix City, AL, Karen Tucker of Tuscaloosa, AL, Betty (Carl) Williams of New Orleans, LA, Brenda Hartman of Columbus, GA, Emma (Willie) Miles, Linda (Bobby) Elias and Gloria (Jimmy) Crow all of Ft. Mitchell, AL and Apostle Brenda Miles of Calumet City, IL; eight uncles, Homer (Shirley) Miles and Trent (Ida) Miles both of Phenix City, AL, Gable (Patricia) Miles of Smiths Station, AL, Michael (Barbara) Miles of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Robert (Rita) Evans of Atlanta, GA, Sammy (Mary) Evans and Otis Evans both of Ft. Mitchell, Aland Edward Evans of Germany; two nephews, Anthony James, Sr. and Charles James, Jr.; two nieces, Aquila James and Sharon (Marcus) Arnold; one great nice, Destiny James and five great nephews, Trevon James, Anthony James, Jr., Caleb James, Camden Arnold, Eli Thomas and a host of other relatives and friends.
