Mr. Delmar Craig Griffin, Jr.

Passed 01/27/2022

Mr. Delmar Craig Griffin Jr., affectionately known as “Junior,” “Craig,” or “Foot,” departed this life on Thursday, January 27, 2022, in High Point, NC. He was born January 7, 1966, in Norfolk, VA, the son of Anna P. Walker and the late Delmar B. Walker.

Delmar attended Norfolk Public Schools in Virginia and held various jobs in the same city. Years later, he relocated to the state of North Carolina, where he eventually married Ms. Sheila Williams-Griffin on May 23, 2014, in Charlotte, NC.

Delmar shared several interests, which include his love for sports. His favorite teams were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Lakers. He shared an extreme love for old-school music, and you can quite often hear me blasting the feel-good music down the street in his beloved truck. He also had a passion for cooking, where he enjoyed looking up new recipes on YouTube for inspiration. We wouldn’t say he was a “Mama’s Boy,” but he would speak to his mother multiple times a day. As many of you know, he had a profound sense of humor and always spoke his mind.

Delmar leaves behind cherished memories to his wife, Sheila Williams-Griffin; his mother, Anna. P. Walker; his children, Alonzo Thompson, Destiny Thompson, Kendra Williams, De’Shawn Williams, and Anthony (Crystal) Williams; fourteen grandchildren; his sister, Joyce (Arnold) Smith; his half-siblings, Gervine (Tina) Bell, Geraldine (Dena) Sanders, Roy Hopkins, and Gene Hopkins; a nephew, Quinton (Shaqwania) Smith; his service dog, Hemmingway; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 3:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
