Tare’ loved his family and was very protective of them. He made friends during his younger years, that remained his close friends until today. He also made new friends from Charlotte to Atlanta and beyond, that remained his friend until today as well. He never met a stranger and had a giving heart. If you needed him, he was there.
Tare’ was a graduate of Shelby High in 2002. He played football, ran track and he was a member of the Orchestra from Middle School until he graduated. Some of Tare’s honors included being named Most outstanding Freshman , which he received the Horn Citizenship Award. He received the Teen Achiever of the year in 2002, from the Cleveland County YMCA Black Achievers Program. He received the Andrews Academic Scholarship Award, where attended Gardner Webb University. Tare’ has also received numerous awards during his adult life. Tare’ attended Shiloh Baptist Church, where he was baptized at an early age. During his youth, he participated in the Youth Choir, Youth Mission Group and Sunday School.
Tare’ was an avid traveler, he loved adventure. His travels started early in life, when he was a Boy Scout with Troop 101 at First Baptist Church in Shelby. During this time his troop traveled to Canada, where he said was one of the best experiences ever. He loved to dress, and look nice wherever he went. He always said that he wanted to get best dressed in High School, and his Senior year he was honored with “Best Dressed” Superlative. He loved toying with electronics, if you needed anything fixed on your computer, tv, phone etc. he was the man for the job.
Tare’ worked in many different areas, Hotel customer service, and Insurance, just to name a few. His last job was with State Farm, In Atlanta, as a Claims Consultant, before his illness caused him to take a leave of absence.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Freddie Cannon and two uncles, Gerald Cannon and Jay Surratt.
He leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory: his parents, Todd and Veronica Wray and Harvey and Sherrie McSwain; sister: Deveney McSwain;, brothers, Christopher Wray, Harvey McSwain II, Brian Sims (Princess), Brad Strong; grandmother, Bernice Cannon; special niece and nephew: Kaylee Mack, Christopher Wray Jr (CJ).; special aunts and uncles: Frieda C. Lattimore, Alesia Cannon, Sherwood Hardin, Rodney Cannon (Mary Ann); special cousins that were more like brothers and sisters, Tajuana Cannon, Laquandra Cannon, Felicia Cannon, and Cedric Cannon;.other cousins: Rodnisha Cannon, Steven Lattimore and Mia Cannon.
There were many that helped him during his illness and we say thank you, but a special thanks goes out to Brandon Filelds, who helped with his travels back and forth to his doctor appointments, grocery shopping, medicine runs, etc. for that we will be forever grateful.
Along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed from the funeral home’s web page
