MR. MICHAEL SLADE WATTERS - Age 49, of Calhoun, Georgia. – Michael Slade Watters, 49 years ago entered this world as a handsome bundle of joy with the sweetest loving soul on September 1, 1972 in Calhoun, Ga., to Peggy J. (Whorton) Watters and Larry Watters. He was a proud graduate of Calhoun High School. He continued his education at Albany State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

At the age of 10 years old, Mike was given a lawn mower by his Uncle Garland Mays and started a very successful lawn care business. By 14, he was given the opportunity to work for a family friend who owned a restaurant. He had a love for good food and he knew how to cook it to perfection. A year later, a close friend’s father, Mr. Buddy Hawkings, gave him his “big” break and hired a 15 year old to work at Welco—as Mike would say making “Good” money. During Mike’s enrolled at Albany State University, in Albany, Georgia. Mike was a brilliant mathematician that tutored countless people while at ASU and assisted students in achieving their graduation goals.

Mike was an entrepreneur at heart. He owned several businesses prior to his final employment with the United Postal Service (UPS) which he loved dearly. Mike was an avid reader who loved life and he loved people. He showed that love through many countless kind-hearted acts. Michael Slade Watters entered into his eternal rest Tuesday, February 22, 2022 in Calhoun, Ga. This gentle giant had a amazing smile that would melt your heart. Gone too soon but now resting in God’s eternal arms.

Preceded in death by his Mother, Peggy J. (Whorton) Watters- Laney, Father, Larry Watters, Joel C. Stephens (Brother), Karen Watters (Wife) and Lula Goudlock (Grandmother).

Survivors are his four children, Ms. Kayla M. Boss-Watters (Daughter) of Warren Robins, Ga., Miss MaKenzie Watters (Daughter), Miss MeKayleigh Watters (Daughter), Miss Makiyah Watters (Daughter) of Cartersville, Ga. Ms. Seania C. Stephens (Sister), Candace (Victor) Novene (Sister), Pastor Christopher (Angel) Waters (Brother), Mr. Sean C. Whorton (Nephew) Mr. Cortland R. Turner (Nephew), Ms. Jessica A.C. Turner (Niece), Ms. Sloan Stewart (Niece), Aunt Janie and Uncle Preston Aker Sr., along with a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends. Memorial service will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Willis Funeral Home 2011 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Dalton, GA. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the Willis Funeral Home. Arrangements by Willis Funeral Home, Inc. Dalton, GA.
