She retired after 25 years of service from Southern Natural Gas Company.

Vernon was a member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary Member and Deaconess. She is survived by: daughter, A. Michelle (Stephen) Sutton; 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church (1101 M. L. King Drive SW) with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1-6 PM Wednesday, February 23 at Bushelon.
