Obituary For Estella Turner

Afuneral ceremony for Estella Turner, 95, of Knoxville TN (formerly of Munford, Alabama) will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Hallgrove Baptist Church with Pastor Earl Moss, officiating. Interment will follow immediately after service in the church cemetery. Public viewing was held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 3-6 PM at Goodson Funeral Home, Anniston, Alabama. Receiving of family and friends, at the church, one hour prior to service on Friday. Estella Turner who was graciously called "Big Mama" by her grandchildren and "Sista" by her closest family members, went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2022. She was born on February 3, 1927, to the union of Will and Alice McElderry. She worked several jobs over the years, but her longest job was at Sears and Roebuck, where she worked for over 20 years. She was a member of Eternal Life Harvest Center Baptist Church and loved to sing. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Will and Mary Alice McElderry; husband, Benjamin James Turner; daughters, Ruby, Ruthie, Myra, Verna Williamson, and Mae Joyce Turner; great-grandchildren, Asia and Otto Chatman, Chris Smith, and DeSheena Kyle; grandchildren, Calvin Stinson and LaTasha Mitchell; brothers, Willie Brag (Helen) McElderry, Jimmy Lewis McElderry, Arthur James (Leola) McElderry, and John McElderry; sisters, Evelyn (William) Mosley and Juliet McElderry; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins, too numerous to name. She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted sons, Willie Turner, Benjamin Turner-Sharon McAfee of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughters, Betty (Henry) Deas of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dorothy Richey, and Evelyn Turner of Knoxville, Tennessee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to name.
