After moving to Gadsden, she joined the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she served under Minister Fred Lawler and the current leadership of Pastor Louis Leonard, Sr. She served faithfully in the choir, missionary, and youth ministry. She loved cooking for her family, her church family, and the church secretary.
Edith united in holy matrimony to Larry C. Riddle, Jr., and to this union, five children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Floyd McMurray, Jr., and Joseph McMurray.
Those left to cherish her memories: her husband, Larry C. Riddle; children, Phyllis (Daniel) Thomas and Sheila Riddle, both of Gadsden, AL, Larry C. Riddle III of Columbiana, AL, and Derrick S. Riddle and Garrick L. Riddle (Erica), both of Gadsden, AL; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; of the 17, these four lived in the home and were raised as her children and adopted, Jermichael Jackson Riddle of Decatur, AL, Quar Damien Riddle, Tyshonna Riddle, and Shunnya Riddle of Gadsden, AL; siblings, Warren McMurray of Minneapolis, MN, Lois McMurray of Anniston, AL, Ruby McMurray of Bufford, GA, and Micheal (Linda) McMurray of Chattanooga, TN; sisters-in law, Mary Coats of Turkeytown, AL, Mary Lynn Riddle, Brenda Riddle, Wanda Faye Riddle, and Barbara Ann McMurray, all of Gadsden, AL, Gloria Daniels of Columbus, GA, and Sarah Johnson of CA; brothers-in- law, David (Wanda) Moore, John Riddle, and Lawrence Riddle, all of Gadsden, AL, and Alonzo (Dorothy) Harris of GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and special cousins, the Densmore family.
