Mitchell, affectionately known as “Tight-Man” to his family and friends, was born on July 4, 1943 in Pittsview, AL to Annie Lee Lias and the late Mitchell Lias, Sr.
As a young adult, Tight-Man lived in upstate NY and Fort Myers, FL before eventually moving back home to Pittsview. During his travels he was an avid CB’er, going by the handle of “Root-Man”. No matter where he resided, Tight-Man’s passion for working with mechanics was evident. He spent most of his waking hours dismantling and reassembling anything with a motor. He LOVED his cars, especially his Pontiac GP. Tight Man also loved family and life itself. He was a man of few words. He said what he meant, and meant what he said. As quiet as he was, you could count on seeing him at any family event, especially if dancing was involved.
Although he loved a celebration, he also loved the Lord and knew the importance of faith. He remained a faithful member of Antioch until his passing on March 3, 2022.
In addition to his father, Tight-Man was preceded in death by his daughter, Norma Jean Lias; sisters, Sarah Lias and Ann Mae (Elijah) Person; brothers, Frankie D. Lias, Austin Lias and Eddie C. Lias.
Along with his mother, Annie Lee Lias, he leaves to cherish his memories wife, Joe Ann Lias; son, Franklin (Sabrina – deceased) Lias; daughters, Yvette (Anthony) Lias- Mowatt and Amy Lias, eight granddaughters; four grandsons; 18 great-grands all of Ft. Myers, FL; brothers: Joseph (Nina) Lias of Phenix City, AL and Willie Lias of St. Petersburg, FL; sisters, Lillie (Willie) Tarver of Buffalo, NY and Annie (Albert) Jackson of Rochester, NY.; sister-in-law, Alice Lias; close nephew, Willie (Kathy) Allison of Pittsview, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
