Mr. Morris Singleton entered into rest, Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Augusta University Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4501 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, GA 30813. Interment will be in the cemetery.

Viewing will be Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Deacon Morris Singleton was born to the late Ms. Daisy Stone on December 12, 1954. He was born in a family of love. Morris lived a life full of joy, happiness and excitement. His final days were spent with his wife, children, family, and close friends. Even during that time, Morris brought joy to those who were dear and near to him. In the early hours of Sunday, March 6, 2022, God called Morris to his heavenly home! Morris attended the Public School System of Richmond County. He graduated from T. W. Josey High School, home of the Soaring Eagles. After high school graduation, Morris begin working at Proctor and Gamble. Then a better employment opportunity became available at MCG (Medical College of Georgia). He worked at MCG, which had become Augusta University, until the time of his retirement. Morris had a genuine love for music since he was a teen. He actually became a vital part of live entertainment in Augusta as he played in the Mustang Band and the Compulsion Band. His number one hobby was playing the bass guitar. Many times when the house was trying to rest, you could hear Brother Singleton practicing his music! The apple of his eye loved to hear him play that guitar. You couldn’t tell Sheila that Morris wasn’t from Apollo! During the late 80’s, Morris and Sheila decided they were the apple of each other’s eyes. Eleven years later, December 12, 1998, they united in holy matrimony at Good Samaritan Baptist Church, and to this union, two sons were born. Deacon Singleton was like a kid in the candy store when it was time for their annual summer trip to Florida. He looked forward to making that trip with his wife and children. When his children became adults, Morris was still equally excited to take the same trip with his grandchildren. From time to time, he’d throw in an extra trip to Myrtle Beach. Deacon and Sister Singleton loved the beach. Morris accepted Christ at an early age because his Aunt Susie Watts insisted that he learn of the Lord and His saving grace. He joined Good Samaritan Baptist Church and was baptized by Reverend E. A. Brown. Morris served in several capacities, including being one of the founding members of the Frances Tell Gospel Choir and the GSMBC Male Chorus, director of the Male Chorus, Church Percussionist, and Church Bass Guitar Player. Although Brother Singleton had been an active part of GSMBC, the peak of joy came for him and his wife when he was ordained as Deacon Morris Singleton, on the fourth Sunday in January of 2018. Deacon Singleton loved being in the presence of his family. They will terribly miss him as he joins those family members that preceded him in death. Deacon Singleton leaves to cherish fond memories: a loving, supportive, and devoted wife, Sheila Singleton; sons, Ju’Morris Singleton and Melvin (Krystal) Singleton, both of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Marcie Curry of Augusta, GA, Shanta Roberts of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, and Latasha Roberts of Sylvania, GA; sisters, Annette Duncan of Belvedere, SC, Ernell Colhoun of Aiken, SC, and Hariette Alexanders of North Augusta, SC; brothers, Carl (Lou) Golden of Hephzibah, GA, Leon Matthews of Jacksonville, FL, Wilbur (Angela) Calhoun, Jr. of Beach Island, SC, and Joseph Sanders of North Augusta, SC; brothers-in-law, Chad (Kenya) Burroughs of Atlanta, GA, and Richard Glenn of Augusta, GA; sister-in-law, Lynn (Gerald) Dunn of Augusta, GA; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
