OBITUARY:

Fred Lazzell Kelly, was birthed to this life on October 12, 1967 to Elmer and Mary Louise Kelly. The eighth child of nine born to this union.

Studious in his desire concerning academic achievement, Fred attended West Side Elementary and Jr. High School, Isabel Elementary and Peeples Middle School resulting in successful graduation. He attended High School at Forest Hill High School graduating in the year of 1986. He was an entrepreneur at heart because it allowed him the pleasure of his passion to be able to help someone along the way. Thus making his living not in vain. At a very young age at family Sunday morning prayer, he would pray until the power of the Lord filled the house which ushered him to accept his call into the preach ministry. He accepted his call into the ministry at Greater Allen Temple AME Church and preached his trial sermon "The Three Little Pigs", under the leadership of Presiding Elder, Rev. Barbara Precious Boyd, at the age of 23. He received a Bachelor of Theology Degree from Trinity Theological Seminary, August 4, 2012. Known as Bobby Flay because of his love for grilling, especially on his self-made grill from his trade in welding. Fishing was a joy, traveling was his passion and preaching was his divine first love. Working tirelessly at Peoples Funeral Home of Jackson, MS, under the mentorship of David Jones, which led him to Partnership with Greg Stewart at Lakefront Memorial Funeral Home.

In the steps of the Pastorate, Fred was appointed to Plainville AME Church of Vaughn, MS for 14 years. As the Lord would lead, Fred journeyed to become a part of the Missionary Baptist Denomination where he was ordained at the Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Jackson, MS the year 2000 by Rev. Clyde Tate. In 2006 he was elected Pastor of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where his heart was graciously rooted until the roll was called up yonder.
