Beverly “Bev” Wright

Passed 03/04/2022

~Obituary~

Beverly, “Bev”, as she was affectionately called, was the middle child of three, entrusted to the hands of Mr. Lonnie and Mrs. Cynthia Samuel of Morven, GA. She was preceded in death by her father, and sister, Bridgette Joynette Samuel. Beverly was born on June 16, 1969, at Brooks County Hospital.

She attended the public schools of Brooks County, GA, where she graduated in 1987. Beverly went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was employed by South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. During her tenure at SGMC, Bev was a dependable and valued employee. She served in various positions, eventually holding the title, O.R. Desk Manager.

Beverly was united in Holy Matrimony to Michael Wright in 2001. To their union were born Mikayla and Michael. She was a loving mother who never wavered in her commitment to her children and family. Bev enjoyed many hobbies, but she especially loved sports, cars, and some good music. She was more than your average fan of football and basketball. She never missed a season competing with “the fellas” in the Fantasy Football League, and was often seen donning the latest fan gear. Let’s not forget the shoes. Bev also had a heart for music, everything from old-school rap and hip-hop, to gospel. She could be heard on any given day blasting hits by “The Anointed Pace Sisters” or “The Clark Sisters”. One of her favorite songs was Blessed and Highly Favored, which she saw as a personal testimony.

She was known as “Black Pony Girl” to commemorate her love for the Ford Mustang, although the Lexus and BMW were also objects of her affection.

Beverly was an all-around fun-loving, down-to-earth person. She could chat it up with anyone she met, but was quick to let you know when she didn’t agree with you. She didn’t bite her tongue for anyone, and you could count on her being the same “Bev” all the time. Her legacy as a wife, mother, “B”, and employee will live on. There will never be another like her. She was truly one-of-a-kind.

Beverly leaves to mourn, but cherish her memory, her loving husband of 20 years, Michael Wright; two children, Mikayla Natasha Wright and Michael Jewan Wright; daughter-in-love, Aasha Jones; grandchildren, Zoey and Rylee; her mother, Ms. Cynthia Samuel; her last sibling and only brother, Lonnie Lamont (Davina) Samuel; two nieces, Bernelisza Wright and Bethany Samuel; nephews, JaTyrus Samuel, Jalen Samuel, Bryson Gordy, and Braylon Samuel; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel (Bernice) Wright; and brother-in-law, Melvin Wright. In addition, Bev also leaves to cherish her memory, uncles: Horace Rollins and William (Lillie) Rollins, Javan (Sherry) Wright, and Ralph (Yvonne) Wright; aunts: Eliza Allen, Roberta (Edmond) Carty, Mae Ford, Bernice Jackson, Nadine (Ricky) Lakes, Louise Joe, Linda Moore, Dorothy Samuel, and Mary Samuel; devoted friends, Gwanda Irvin, Atara Israel, Valerie Stoney, Kathleen Ratcliff and Stacy Anderson; and a host of other relatives, friends, and co-workers who will miss her dearly.
