I am truly sad to hear of Darold's passing. He was a dear friend and classmate of mine at Cottondale High School. He had so many talents, especially athletic abilities, but I will always feel Darold's best talent was his ability to make you feel valued and always left you either laughing or having a big smile on your face. I will carry many memories of Darold and his infectious smile. Go rest high Darold, you will definitely be missed my friend. Vickie Dilmore Hall Class of 1975

Hey dad. I miss you like crazy. It amazes me the kind of strength you possessed, both mentally and physically. You were and continue to be My Greatest American Hero. My Iron Man. Although I shed a tear, my heart does not weep. Our talks don't end because I can't hear your baritone symphony of wisdom and encouragement. You always told me to look for the signs and landmarks, so that's what I'll do- look for your signs. I love you until forever and a day. Your daughter, Megale

Words are hard to find when you look around and someone you have known your entire life goes from time to eternity. Our parents were friends/family, We grow up in the same church - got baptized together; you played sports - I was a cheerleader; we were high school classmates "Cottondale High School Home of the Hornets" - we graduated together. We both left to go away to school but always managed to stay in touch. We'd see each other when I'd come home. You introduced me when I spoke for Women's Day at our home church Bethlehem A.M.E. There are so many wonderful memories, I'd hope there would be more - But God decided that it was time for you to go from time to eternity. I will miss your laughter, that smile that lite up a room; the hug whenever we saw each other and our conversation that could last for hours as we'd catch up. I will miss - Darold - rest well - I'll see you again - when I get home.

Coach Pope - You will be missed by so many. You, inspired many young men in Jackson County by encouraging them to set and achieve goals. We loved when GHS and CHS played each other in basketball, because it was exciting to see you enter the gym in your stylish, well pressed, sharp suit, and your on-point curly hair. Dear Black Man, rest well, no more suffering, RIP!!!

To the family of Darold Pope mere words can never express the love that I have for Darold. Darold and I met 42 years ago o the campus of Albany State College. Darold and I and along with the late Ralph Morris decided to rent a house and as a result we developed a bond for life. Darold was in our wedding on his birthday July 22nd. May God Grant each of you His Perfect Peace.
