Dawn O'Day Davis

Dawn O'Day Eakle Davis, 91, formerly of Bellevue, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 15th, 2022 in Decatur, TX.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Mrs. Davis will be laid to rest next to her husband at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, TX.

Dawn was born February 19, 1931 in Charleston, West Virginia to Earl Lough and Hazel (Linhart) Eakle. As a young child, she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, this decision would lay the foundation for the rest of her life. Dawn graduated from Clay High School in West Virginia, and went on to attend Baylor University, where she met her future husband, Charles Gowin Davis. The couple married on September 7, 1951 in Clay, WV.

Dawn began her life with Gowin, who was serving in the United States Air Force, moving to St. Louis, Washington D.C., and Wichita Falls during his tenure with the Air Force. Dawn lived in Wichita Falls for 60 years. She set an excellent example of how a Christian should live, and Dawn loved to talk about her wonderful Savior Jesus and how he had redeemed her. Mrs. Davis taught many Womens' Sunday School classes and enjoyed ministering to everyone she could.

In 2003, Mrs. Davis moved to Bellevue, TX with her husband. She enjoyed the rural life and continued her devoted ministry to people. Dawn loved her family and devoted her time to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gowin Davis; her parents, and brother Burke Eakle.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughters, Becky Moss and husband Stan of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Amy Fields and husband Cal of Decatur, TX; brothers, Bruce Eakle and wife Nancy of Albuquerque, NM and Alan Eakle of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Drew Moss and wife Lannette, Sarah Gill, Derek Moss and wife Mary, Colby Fields and wife Sarah, Megan Snyder and husband Sean; great-grandchildren, Addie Moss, Cameron Moss, Rex Moss, Emmy Moss, Deke Gill, Myla Palma, Colton Fields, Aralynn Palma, Tate Fields, Dylan Fields, Liam Snyder and Jax Snyder; she is also survived by many special friends, nieces and nephews.
