Samuel Hunt

Samuel Nicholas Hunt was born on January 4, 1923, in Manhattan, NY to Lucy Alexander and Nicholas Hunt. He resided in Harlem, NY during his young years and eventually moved down south to North Carolina. He lived with his grandparents Laura and Lovelace Alexander in Wise, NC. There he went to school and met his future wife at Warren County Training School. Upon graduation, he returned to New York where he found a job. Soon after, Samuel was drafted into World War II from 1943 to 1946 into an experimental Calvary Unit. Upon discharge, he married Edith on March 3, 1946. From this union, four children were born Edith Laura, Nicholas, Terrence, and Charlton. Samuel was employed at Trans Maintenance Yellow Cab Company as the night manager. Later he had three additional children. Samuel passed away peacefully on March 18, 2022, at home in South Carolina with his son Terrence and daughter-in-law Brenda who took exceptional care of him. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Hunt, son Nicholas, and daughter Schree. He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories his brother Obie Hunt, surviving children Edith, Terrence, Charlton, Yvette, and Claudia; grandchildren Lauretha, Nisha, Terrence Jr., Kristen, Crystal. Makeeda, Tiffany, and Shanta; numerous great grands; nieces Eunice, Alice, Elizabeth, Christine, Eulah; extended family and friends; and a very dear friend Shirley who was there whenever he needed her. Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC.
