Obituary For Mother Lillie C. Hutchinson

In the year of 1942, a beautiful daughter was born to the late Supt. Emeritus M.B. and Mother Ella Mae Carr. Lillie Mae Carr was a lifelong resident of Panama City, FL, and she was educated in the Bay County Schools. After graduating from Rosenwald High School in 1959, she received her vocational training at the Lady Ethel Beauty College and fulfilled her childhood dream of being a cosmetologist. She retired after 34 years in this career to care for her aging father.

Mother Hutchison gave her life to the Lord at age 14 and has lived faithful to Him. She candidly shared fond memories of being anointed by Bishop Charles Harrison Mason, who was the founder of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. She vividly described being in the Prayer Room of Mason Temple and the oil running from her head down the front of her little dress as the Man of God anointed her for ministry. Mother Hutchison has been engaged in some facet of ministry for more than 60 years. She accompanied her father in revival for 27 of those years, she pastored the same congregation for 33 years, and she also engaged in nursing home ministry for 8 years.

Mother Hutchison has been an active member of the Church of God in Christ all of her life. She was licensed as an evangelist missionary years ago under the leadership of the late Mother Suzie Johnson, and she served as District Missionary of Panama District for many years. She was assigned as the Senior Pastor of Pentecostal Temple, COGIC by the late Bishop C. D. Kinsey. She served on the Executive Board of Central Florida’s First Jurisdiction Women’s Dept. under the leadership of the late Mother Elizabeth G. Crooms. Her final assignment was to serve in the office of Jurisdictional Supervisor for Central Florida First for 6 years. In January 2022, she was emeritized and saluted by her phenomenal jurisdiction and Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop Gary L. Hall, Sr.Mother Hutchison was also greatly respected in her commun ity as a result of her community involvement. She met no strangers and was highly respected by civic groups, governmental officials, and business owners. She served on community service advisory boards, and she encouraged her parishioners to adopt various social service agencies in the community. She received the Eva P. Jordan Award for being one of Panama City’s U nsung Heroes, and she was selected as one of the honorees for the Black Girls Rock Movement which honored leading ladies in the Florida Panhandle. This Woman of God is endearingly referred to by the religious leaders in her area as “Mother Pastor” because of her humble demeanor and genuine love for the Lord’s people.
