Melvin Eugene Jones was born on January 9, 1955 to Melvin and Catherine Jones in Hastings, Florida. He later married Mary Jones. Melvin worked as a farm laborer for over 40 years. He was also a community wildlife cleaner. He provided various vegetables to his community. Melvin enjoyed fishing and playing cards with friends.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Nelly Jones.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Mary Jones; son, Stephen Jones; daughter, Simone Jones; stepson, Jonathan Quick; brother, Alvin (Vaughn) Jones; sister, Shirley Baldwin; grandchildren, Stephon Jones, Treshun Jones, Samaya Jones and Noah Mcghee; special friends, Pete Ford and Tree Buddies; and a host of extended relatives and friends.
