Obituary For Catherine "Cathey" Reid

CATHERINE (ADCOX) REID, 62, our beloved “Cathey”, as she was affectionately called, transitioned into eternal life on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in the peace and love of her home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was born in Harrisburg, daughter of Alice R. (Thomas) Adcox and the late Jimmie C. Adcox, Sr. She was the first of four children and the only girl. Cathey received her formal education in the Harrisburg School District. She attended Harrisburg High for a couple of years and decided to work in the nursing field. During her working career, she was an employee of several nursing homes in the Harrisburg area. In 1988, she began working for the Rite Aid Corporation until 2005. At the time of her passing, she was an employee of Menasha in Newville, Pennsylvania. She was hard working and made sure that her family was good. In her leisure, Cathey loved to read Bible verses, do word search puzzles, spend time with her daughter, grandchildren and son-in-law. She also loved to google anything purple. In addition to her father, Cathey was preceded in death by one of her brothers, Jimmie C. Adcox, Jr. She leaves to cherish precious memories of her and their life together, her beloved daughter and only child, Denise Washington; her mother, Alice R. Adcox; her two brothers, Eric M. Adcox and Kenneth M. Adcox; her five grandchildren, Tobias Washington, Tyrell Barber, Sr., Aisha Thomas, Tiajah Nixon and Taimir Nixon; her two great-grandchildren, Tyrell Barber, Jr. and Da´vion Nixon and a host of other relatives and friends. Cathey will truly be missed by everyone who knew her. Her life will be celebrated on Friday, April 8 at 12 Noon in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery. Live Streaming of the service will be available on Major H.
