Mattie McClee

Passed 04/05/2022

Ms. Mattie Louise McClee was born on January 10, 1942, in Gastonia, NC and closed her eyes on this side of glory after hearing the 23rd Psalm on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the home of Angela Dreher, surrounded by love and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Mattie was the daughter of the late Hattie McClee McDowell and late Sherman Black. Mattie attended Gaston County Schools. Prior to becoming ill, she was employed by Highland Rehab and Health as a Certified Nursing Assistant. God allowed Mattie to continue working into her early 70s. She was a member of Friendship Christian Church and enjoyed visiting Mt. Zion Restoration Church with her sister, Jewel Dreher.

Mattie was a fun-loving person and loved the God with all her heart. She would always encourage other with scriptures and share the miracles that God had performed in her life. Over the past five years, Mattie had been very ill and endured triple by-pass surgery, kidney failure and numerous strokes, but every time God brought her through, she would exclaim “God Did It Again!”. She was so grateful for every day that the Lord spared her life and for any kindness that anyone showed toward her. Her genuine spirit and love of life will be greatly missed and there is now a void in our family that will never be filled.

Mattie is survived by one son, Aric McClee of the home, whom she loved with all of her heart; sister, Jewel Reid Dreher, Gastonia, NC; aunt, Helen Colen (Robert), Gastonia, NC; uncle, Billy Rainey, Gastonia, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; special friend Pauline Montgomery and adopted family pet, Disel.
