Obituary For Mother Frankie Ophelia Daughtry-Nunnally

Mother Frankie Ophelia Daughtry-Nunnally, at the age of 99 years young, peacefully transitioned to eternal reward at her home in Steelton, Pennsylvania on Thursday, March 31, 2022. She was born in Sylvania, Georgia to the late Lucy Mae Scott-Daughtry and the late William Henry Daughtry. Mother Frankie was joined in holy matrimony to Lester Nunnally and their union was blessed with five children. In 1945, they relocated to Steelton, PA. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized in Sylvania, Georgia at the Ditch Pond Church. When she came to Steelton, she joined Mount Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church now known as Turner Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. She has been a faithful and devoted member of the church for over 70 years. Mother Nunnally loved people and served in many Ministries of the church. She has served as Vice-President of the Mothers’ Board, as a Deaconess, a Missionary, a Sunday School Teacher, on the Usher Board, the Nurse’s Unit, the Ladies Auxiliary and she sang on the Choir. She was also a part of the Busy Bee Ministry and the Prayer Band for many years. God healed many people through their prayers. She was always ready to give her testimony about the goodness of the Lord. She would visit the sick and help until she became unable. Mother Nunnally would do whatever was needed; she would even preach if asked! She often quoted the scripture: “Don’t do evil for evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21. She spoke at a few churches, but was not a preacher. She loved to cook and often baked cakes and pies upon request as well as for her family. When she was not reading her Bible or ministering to someone, she enjoyed watching television shows such as the Lawrence Welk Show and Sanford and Son. In addition to her parents, Mother Nunnally was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Nunnally and three of their children, Dorothell Nunnally-Carter, Henry A. Nunnally and Douglas Gibbons. She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy her children, Betty Nunnally-Bryant of Pottstown, PA and Calvin Nunnally of Harrisburg, PA; her grandchildren; Eugene (Deborah), Linea, Lavette (Mark), Lavena, Harold, Jr. (Timberly), Scott (Lisa), Jamar and Troy (Patricia); her god-daughters, Joann Overton, who was an immense help to her; Margaret Anderson, Velma Prather and Priscilla Hill, who was a tremendous help to her during her failing years. Priscilla made sure she picked her up for church on Sundays, as well as take her to doctor appointments, etc. It was not beneath her to clean Mother Nunnally’s house and do whatever else that was needed; her two nephews who were reared as her brothers: Henry Daughtry of Savannah, Georgia and Randolph Daughtry of Florida; her 29 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. Mother Nunnally’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9th at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of her Church, 130 Watson St., Steelton with viewing 10 until 11 a.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery. COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks for all attendees.
