James Junior Major was born June 12, 1959 to the late Johnny James Major and Mae Etta Booker in Boston, Georgia. He was educated in the Thomas County School system. James wasn’t a stranger to hard work. For many years he worked for Oscar Cook Farms. James also did field work until his health began to fail.

On May 29, 1983, James was joined in marriage to Helen Cannady. To this union, three children were born.

After a long battle with illness, James departed from his earthly life on April 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tiffany Major and nephew Ellie H. Bryant, III. He leaves to cherish precious memories, a beloved daughter Tamecia Major; son Anthony Major; four grandchildren Rakeem, Janiya, Nyla and Jade; three loving and caring sisters Mae Frances (Ellie) Bryant, Boston, GA, Joyce (Dennis) Dasher, Dixie, GA, Brenda (Lewis) Hardy, Barwick GA; two brothers Andy (Vickie) Booker, Boston, GA, Reginald Major, West Palm Beach, FL; four living aunts Mary Ross, Thomasville, GA, Gladys (Isiah) Reddick, Boston, GA, Minnie Booker, West Palm Beach, FL, Viola Booker, Dixie, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 3PM at The Boston Community Cemetery with Pastor Elizabeth Everett, eulogist.
