Joseph Ernest Thomas, 71, of Harrisburg, PA, transitioned into eternal life on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. He was born in Harrisburg, the son of the late Ananias Dockworth and the late Evelene "Bunny" Ross. Joseph was a graduate of the former William Penn High School in Harrisburg, PA, the class of 1968. Joe (as he was affectionally known) worked at the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Steelton, PA as a Millwright and Jackson Manufacturing before running a home repair and painting business. He finished his career as a crossing guard with the Harrisburg School District. Joe was an avid chess player who loved playing the game. Two of his passions were fishing and supporting the Oakland Raiders and the Raiders Nation. He also loved cooking and grilling for his family and friends. He shared his life with his two brothers, Marvin H. Ross, Sr. and Conchi Ross, of Killeen, TX, the Reverend Stephon V. Ross, Sr. and Lori Ross, of Chesterfield, VA. Joe leaves to celebrate his life his wife, Juanita Walker Thomas; his son Joseph E. Donald and daughter-in-law, Yolanda Donald, of Florida; his two daughters, Victoria A. Thomas and Michele Thomas; two step-sons, Justin Walker and Donald Walker-Sherrill; two goddaughters; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Celebration for Joe's life was held on Friday, March 25 at the William Howard Day Cemetery, Steelton, PA at 11:00 AM.
