Obituary For Earnest Lee Underwood

"The Obituary"

Earnest Underwood was born January 6, 1944, he was one of Eleven siblings born to the late Clarence and Iola Underwood.

Earnest received his education at Carver high school. He received Christ at an early age at the Friendship Baptist Church and later join the House of Deliverance Church, where he remained until his passing. Earnest worked at the Greater Gadsden Housing Authority as a maintenance worker until his retirement in 2005.

Earnest was a renaissance man he was a plumber, carpenter, mechanic, and electrician. He also taught himself to play the guitar and he loved to sing, Earnest hobbies was fishing, cooking, gardening, and barbequing. He enjoyed sharing stories and telling jokes. He never met a stranger. He was loved by many especially all children, he was a gentle spirit that loved his family, but most of all he was GOD'S humble servant that always delivered GOD'S message to get SAVED.

Earnest was proceeded in death by his wife Joanna Underwood, Son Eric Underwood, and Grandson Corian Marshall.

Earnest Leaves behind to cherish his memories two daughters: Teresa Underwood – Jones, and Evon Underwood both of Gadsden, Al. Grandchildren: Eric Holland, Gadsden; Kyteria Marshall; Charlotte, NC, Ta’Ron Marshall, Salinas, California; Jimia Bush, Huntsville, Al, Great Grandchildren- Isaiah Moore, Marleigha Shepherd, of Gadsden, Al.; Brothers: Nathaniel (Shirley) Underwood, Augusta,Ga, Jimmy Underwood, Birmingham, Alabama , Clarence Underwood, East- Lansing, MI,. Special Nieces and Nephews Cle Dupree, Me’Che Morgan, and Alvin Calloway. And a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

Mr. Earnest L. Underwood Public Viewing will be 12:00 - 6:00 P.M. Friday, April 15,2022 West Gadsden Funeral Home (Betty D. Robinson) Chapel. Funeral Services 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 16,2022 at the Mission Baptist Church, Burial Lincoln Hill Cemetery.
