The Obituary

Jimmy Lee Godfrey, Sr. was born July 18, 1961 in Barney, GA to the late Samuel Everett Godfrey, Sr. and Lorene Stephens Godfrey.

He graduated from Colquitt County High School in the class of 1979. After school, he was employed by Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, GA. He was later employed with Balfour Timber Company until his retirement in 2016.

Jimmy departed his life Sunday, April 10, 2022, at his home. He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Everett Godfrey, Sr; three brothers: Samuel Everett Godfrey, Jr, Johnny Lee Godfrey and James Wesley Godfrey.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Denise Williams Godfrey of Thomasville, GA; mother, Lorene S. Godfrey of Berlin, GA; three sons: Jimmy Lee Godfrey, Jr, Warner Robins, GA; Jamaul Lamar Godfrey, Charlotte, NC and Jermaine Lorenzo Godfrey, Charlotte, NC; three sisters: Barbara (Ira) Moreland, Berlin, GA; Corine G. Walker, Moultrie, GA, Darlene G. Reynolds, Berlin, GA; one brother, Willie Frank (Melissa) Godfrey, Berlin, GA; Special cousin/Brother, Henry Stephens, Berlin, GA; two special friends, Rev. Spencer Wilson and Horace Hunter, Thomasville, GA. Jimmy also leaves 3 aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish his memories.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 3PM at New Salem Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at the Stevens-McGhee Chapel from 12PM-7PM.
